Cannot Find or Load Microsoft Installer during Skype Setup (Solved)

The following problem may appeared on a Windows 7, 8 or 10 based computer, during Skype installation: "Cannot find or load Microsoft Installer. Please update your computer and try running Skype again". The error commonly is caused when Windows haven't the latest updates installed.

How to fix Skype Setup Error "Cannot find or load Microsoft Installer"

Method 1. Download and install all available Windows Updates.

– First of all make sure that you have installed all available Windows Updates. To do that:

1. Navigate to Windows Control Panel and open Windows Update.

2. Press the  Check for Updates button.

3. When the Update search is completed, click the Install Updates button, and leave Windows to install all available updates.


Method 2. Download the latest version of Internet Explorer.

1. Download and install the latest version of Internet Explorer according your Windows version.

* Note: If during Skype installation, you receive the error "Another version of Skype is already installed" then perform the following actions:

1. Run the Skype Removal Tool (SRT.exe) to remove all Skype traces.
