How to Resolve Airplane Mode Switching On and Off Automatically in Windows 10/11

If your Windows 10 or 11 device is experiencing an issue where Airplane Mode turns on and off continuously, this guide will help you resolve the problem effectively.

Recently, after updating a laptop, an issue arose where Airplane Mode would toggle on and off as if the button was being pressed repeatedly. This erratic behavior can be frustrating, but there are solutions available.

Upon investigation, I found that a recently installed driver, named Insyde – HIDClass, was responsible. This driver is associated with the Airplane Mode button on the device. If you are facing a similar issue, follow the steps below to rectify it.

The Insyde Airplane Mode HID Mini-Driver is designed to manage the functionality of the physical Airplane Mode switch. If this driver malfunctions, it can cause the mode to toggle erratically. Below are the steps to resolve this issue.

How to FIX: Airplane Mode Constantly Turns On and Off in Windows 10/11

1. Open Device Manager by typing "device manager" in the Windows search bar and selecting the application.

2. In Device Manager, expand the Human Interface Devices section. Right-click on Insyde Airplane Mode HID Mini-Driver and choose Uninstall device. This action will remove the driver responsible for the malfunctioning Airplane Mode switch.

3. Ensure to check the Delete the driver software for this device option and click Uninstall. This ensures the complete removal of the problematic driver from your system.

4. After uninstalling the driver, the issue should be resolved. However, to prevent Windows from reinstalling the driver during future updates, follow the next steps.

5. Download the Show or Hide Updates troubleshooter tool from Microsoft. This tool allows you to manage which updates are installed on your system.

6. Run the downloaded file (wushowhide.diagcab), click Next on the first screen, and then select Hide Updates.

7. Choose the Insyde – HIDClass driver from the list and click Next to prevent it from being reinstalled.

Note: Without the Insyde – HIDClass driver, you can still manage Airplane Mode by clicking the Wi-Fi icon on your taskbar and selecting the Airplane Mode icon. Alternatively, check your laptop manufacturer's website for an updated or alternative driver.

In addition to the above steps, consider the following methods:

• Update BIOS: Sometimes, updating your system's BIOS can resolve hardware-related issues. Visit your manufacturer's website for the latest BIOS update.
• Check for Hardware Issues: Ensure that the physical Airplane Mode switch on your device is not stuck or malfunctioning, which could cause this issue.
