OMG!!!!! I recently had my HD crash (Lasted twelve years) and installed a new one. After restoring the new drive I had numerous problems with the computer. Windows update wasn't working, images not showing up in Outlook 10 emails and other pain in the ass problems. I have spent days and nights full time trying to fix all the problems. I have googled dozens and dozens of times trying everything I found. Nothing worked. Today I found this sight and did the IMSD uninstall and everything is working just fine. Thank you so much for your post here. I would buy you a beer and a steak dinner from you favorite restaurant if I could. LOL!!! Again thanks I'm almost in tears!!!

    HOLY F***
I've got an old Sony VAIO that i've recently brought back from a drawer, formatted with a fresh Windows 7 Pro x64 installation as I've purchased an SSD and new RAM. I've installed all the updates and software and it was fine. Few months later of not using it (it was a side project), I've booted it up and Windows was claiming it was not genuine. I've run the "SLMGR -REARM" command and re-activated with the phone activation process. Then I've been looking for updates… and the service didn't want to run. Errors upon errors. Until I've found another guide talking about installing manually some updates… and then the 0xc8000247 error… then I've come to this guide and: uninstalling the Intel Matrix Device Manager solved the issue with Windows Update!!! FFS!!!

Thanks mate, that was very very useful!!

    Great job!
Method 3 worked for me also! Long time that I had warning of not genuine windows 7 on my toshiba laptop after HDD replacement. I checked that it wan not RAID and then fixed it.
The necessary update was performed normaly and windows are genuine recognised.
    Thank you so much!!!
