Remove Ib.Adnxs pop-up ads (Removal Guide)
What is "Ib.Adnxs.com" popups ?
Ib.Adnxs.com (http://ib.adnxs.com & http://www.appnexus.com/”) popups are adware pop-ups. More specifically, ads by AppNexus network are generated by a potentially unwanted program extension or add-on that was probably installed on your computer without your knowledge and upon installation, it modifies your web browser settings in order to display ads from unknown publishers to earn money.

Yes but it is a temporary measure for it keeps coming back no matter what advices I follow on the web pages to remove it. Apart from the listed software you have given above I have added Kaspersky TDSS Killer all to no avail. I have even found out that it can even change my start settings for as soon as I start my computer, the web page: ib.adnxs.com starts. My PoPup blocker on AOL get changed and that on IE 8 have no effect on it even though the POPup Blocker settings are set at High. I have also gone into my Registry and removed any traces of this malware, but yet still it bothers and wastes a lot of my time for I continuously have to waste time to try to get rid of it. Thanks.

I followed the instructions step by stop to the letter. First time I opened a email in AOL … popped right back up. I think I might have to get a new computer to get rid of this crap.

Hello j.smith. Please try this: 1. Run RogueKiller again and select and remove all items found in both "registry" & "Web Browsers" tabs. 2. Run again "AdwCleaner" and tell me the results.

I used this method several times, but still got the pop-ups. I performed this method one last time; but this time added one more step. I installed and ran Spybot Search and Destroy. (Free download). Finally, success.

I have it now. It seems to be confined to AOL. Norton full system scan emoved it a couple of times but it kept coming back and now Norton does not remove it and Norton Power Eraser does not even see it. I like the Spybot idea but are we sure it is not another virus itself?

@warren505: Download & Save ComboFix to your desktop from here. Disable your AV software & run ComboFix. Follow its prompts to clean your computer. Then check if the hijacking has removed.
When done, press Win + R keys and at the run box type "Combofix /Uninstall" (without quotes) to remove ComboFix files.

What advise did AOL techs give you? I have the same problem as your screen shot and recall I am probably paying a monthly charge for using AOL desktop software. AOL does work fine on my Firefox but does not seem to have all the features that the stand alone AOL desktop has.

I have the same problem, ONLY on the AOL system accessed through AOL desktop, and then only when my AOL mail is open.
Seems to me this is AOL's deficiency and they should find a fix.
Thanks.

I have had problems with adnxs off and on for a couple of months. Getting out of AOL seems to be a common problem. After reading removal procedures/tips from other websites, it seems to be common that users try 2 or 3 removal programs before getting rid of adnxs. AND it still comes back on AOL. Now I do my AOL mail out of another browser and that seems to be the best solution of all.

Tried to fix a Win7 computer that had this. I tried about a half dozen spyware removal programs, ADWcleaner, RogueKiller, SpyHunter, MSSecurity Essentials, SpybotSerach&Destroy, and Adaware. They found all sorts of crap, but did not do anything to ib.adnxs.
Another site said the way to remove it from AOL, is to run AOL application , which is a rebranded version of IE, and do a reset of the browser. Prob in Tools, advanced->reset browser. I know, just that simple.
One caveat, this will remove tool bars, and your bookmark bar, so make a note of those settings so u can restore that.

Specifically regarding Patrick's comment. I had the same problem with AOL. I seem to have resolved it by uninstalling all components of AOL 9.7, running Tune-up Utilities 1 Click Maintenance, and then going to AOL and downloading and installing AOL 9.7 again. After that, I've had no problems.
